The Billfish Foundation is recognized globally and has continued to distinguish itself from other fish conservation organizations through sustained emphasis on synthesizing science and policy into effective, yet reasonable, fishery management solutions.

The Asociación Costarricense para la Conservacion de los Peces (ACCP): The Costa Rican Association for Fish Conservation became a reality following a January 2005 meeting of TBF representative Dr. Russell Nelson, resort and charter operators, Costa Rican fishing club members and local west coast captains and mates. The creation of the ACCP follows TBF's work in 2004 in Costa Rica with locals to establish a united network of sportfishing, conservation and tourism interests. Believing in the importance of creating a truly national coalition, the group plans to reach out to sportfishing interests on the Caribbean coast and other parts of the nation.
